FAQs
What ages are Go Play sessions suitable for?
Go Play Sessions are for ages 6-12 yrs and their grown ups. If your child has special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) then they can attend up to the age of 16.
My child is under 6 – can I bring them to a Go Play Session?
Our sessions are designed to provide play activities and opportunities for ages 6-12 or school years 1-7. If you are coming with children of multiple ages then please do feel free to bring younger children, but be aware not all activities will be suitable, safe or age appropriate for them.
Are sessions really free?
Yes, all of our sessions are free to attend! Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council believes play is essential to a happy childhood and that all children should be able to access play opportunities where they live.
How long do sessions last?
Regular sessions usually take place after school and last approximately two hours, but Go Play sessions take place year round, including during school holidays. Occasionally we will run special events with themes or bigger activities such as inflatable play and these might last longer! Keep an eye on our Calendar to see what’s coming up.
Where can I find my local sessions?
Sessions take place outdoors, and at libraries, community centres and other local spaces. Check our Calendar to see what’s going on in your area!
Can I drop my children off?
No. Our sessions are designed to kickstart play activities and encourage children and their grownups to play together, or to play with or alongside other children. A responsible adult is required to remain at sessions with children.
What happens if it rains?
Rain doesn’t stop play! During the summer months, we try to be outside as much as possible, but if we do have to move inside you will find information about session changes on our social media. During the autumn and winter, sessions take place indoors in libraries, community centres and other spaces.
Do you provide food?
Sessions are free but food is not provided – please bring snacks and drinks for your children if they are likely to be hungry.
