A National Play Day Poem

This summer, parent and poet Sarah Huburn attended a Go Play #nationalplayday session and was inspired to write about her experience. We love her words – thank you for letting us share them here Sarah!

A National Play Day Poem

By Sarah Huburn

Today there was no judgement

Today there was friendship

Today there was no divide

Today there was togetherness

Today there was no racism

Today beliefs and skin colour didn’t matter

Today cultures came together, hearts beated as one

Today we learnt to dance and make music in unity

Today there was love

Today your past didn’t matter, we were one

Today the children played, as strangers, then became friends.

Today is National Play Day

Today we saw football, painting, archery for one and all, traditional Indian

dancing with lessons for all, hot food and ice cream, juggling if you

Wished.

So a great big thank you for this #nationalplayday Go Play Sandwell.
