Yay for Play!
All to play for – let’s build better play opportunities for all children & young people Sandwell!
What a summer we have had in Sandwell this year, with so much going on in the Borough from hosting the Commonwealth Games in the new aquatic centre in Smethwick, to the diverse range of activities offered on the HAF programme. This coupled with a hugely successful national play day event at Sandwell Valley Country Park and the Go Play Roadshows, it’s been a fantastic time for Play in Sandwell. All of this has been supported by our directors, elected members and members of the cabinet who believe play everyday matters for all our residents and have pledged to continue to support the creation of a playable Sandwell. Be our supporter who gives a ‘Yay for play’ in Sandwell!
Recognising the importance and supporting children to be able to play is more important then ever.
- Playing is essential for children’s mental health and well-being.
- Playing helps children cope with stress & anxiety & fosters resilience, enabling children to better deal with challenges.
- Playing gives children the opportunity to have fun, laugh, take time out, relax, and build friendships.
- Playing outside allows children to appreciate nature, the environment, and feel part of their community.
- Playing is fundamental to children’s happiness, and happy children lead to happier communities.
Our friendly approach to play gives everyone the opportunity to play and interact with the world around them!
