Play Sufficiency Assessment (PSA) – Final Report
In February 2024, Sandwell Council started a project to understand what life is like for
children and young people in Sandwell. The aim was to find out what is working well,
for who, and where things could be better.
This is called a Play Sufficiency Assessment (PSA).
In Wales and Scotland, councils must carry out this type of research by law. In England,
it is optional. Sandwell is proud to be one of the first councils in England to complete a PSA.
This helps us lead the way in improving opportunities for children and young people.
Over 2,200 children, young people, and adults shared their views. What they told us has
helped shape an action plan. This plan will make sure that children’s rights — including the
right to play — are at the heart of future decisions.

Remember: In Sandwell, play is not a treat — it’s your right.
